Looking
for a unique, high quality activity for you & your child? This class is designed
for children to attend with a participating adult. We will explore art through
watercolor, printmaking, painting, collage, sculpture & much more. Each class
session will have three or four engaging art & craft activities.
Home
school students will create handmade maps that will be geographically accurate
as well as visually appealing. Each map will be a unique work of art. Students
will also be introduced to the art and culture of the region we are mapping. The
winter session will focus on the continent of South America. We will be creating
art inspired by the ancient Aztec, Inca and Mayan cultures.
If fashion is your passion you will love this class. Learn to sketch the human
figure while using your creativity to design your own fashions. Tips will be given
to help with figure proportion as well as drawing faces, hands, and feet. In addition
you'll practice drawing fabric folds and textures and fashion accessories such
as shoes, purses etc. You'll learn both quick sketching methods and how to work
with "croquis." Each student will receive a large sized sketchbook. Use artists
pencils, professional markers and watercolors to complete several sketches for
your portfolio. Individual interpretation, developing a personal style and creative
drawing skills are emphasized.
If you've ever wanted to try your hand at drawing comics and cartoons, here is your chance. You'll have the opportunity to create your own original cast of characters. You will learn to draw your characters from many views and with a range of expressions as well as in various poses. You can match captions or dialogue with your illustrations. By the conclusion of the session you will have created your own comic book which will be copied and bound. Cost

Find an art buddy who is a different age from you and sign up together for this unique class. Bring your child, mother, grandfather, nephew, or neighbor, etc. and discover the richness of a multi-generational art experience. We will each learn basic Chinese brush painting strokes and create a beautiful hanging scroll.

If you are passionate about exploring your art in depth this class will provide you with studio time and support. You will focus on a particular category of art & material to produce several quality pieces. You'll write an artist's statement and have the opportunity to show your work in Davis Studio or another public venue. 6 week class. Students are encouraged to take more than one 6 week session throughout the year. Cost

Learn how to make totem dolls to honor and express yourself or someone you know. In this class we will be incorporating elements of our own lives - images and items that are reflections of our strength and personality. We will be listening to traditional folklore and then interpreting it into the creation of our own personalized mythologies. 3 week class.
