If you love all kinds of pets you
will love this class. We will create acrylic portraits
on canvas of ourselves with our family pets (or fantasy
pets). We'll make cuddly, soft stuffed toys depicting
cats, dogs and other favorite animals. In addition
each of us will create animals ears so we can dress
up pretending to be an animal in a pet shop. Together
we'll write a skit and come up with songs to sing

Georgia O'Keeffe saw the world
in a unique way, up close and personal. In this class
you will create two acrylic paintings on canvas, inspired
by Georgia's work. One painting will be of a flower
or other nature object (shell, leaf, etc.). The other
painting will be inspired by her gorgeous landscapes.
We'll also experiment, as Georgia did, with charcoal
drawings, and watercolor painting as well as creating

life in this great big cartooning adventure. Using
a variety of media you will design a very developed
cast of characters. Create a series of comic strips
or an entire comic book. Your characters can come
to life both on and off the page through expression,
exaggeration, speech & action bubbles and other
cartooning tricks. If desired, you will also have

Using stuff you could find either around the house
or at the hardware store (or sometimes out in the
street), we'll explore concepts of sound, rhythm,
and pitch. You will experiment with a variety of materials
that make terrific sounds. We'll focus on some of
the key concepts of instrument making, and the final
project will be an instrument you design yourself!
We will take our inspiration from instruments from
around the world such as the South American rainstick,

Dr. Suess (Theodore Giesel)
had a exceptionally vivid imagination. The characters
in his books are as unique looking as the worlds he
created for them. In this class we will look closely
at the amazing illustrations of Dr. Suess and create
our own interesting Suess-inspired characters, buildings,
trees and machines. Fill a sketchbook with a number
of clever drawings. Produce one larger sized colorful
piece highlighting your fantastic imaginary world.
In addition you will use air-drying clay to create
your favorite characters and objects in three dimensions.
