The following classes are open to
adults, as well as teens, ages 15 and up. Class sizes are
limited and most fill quickly so register early. If for
any reason a particular class does not fill, you will be
notified and a full refund will be given.

Learn tricks and tips for using
a wide variety of interesting materials to create
unique and exciting paintings and sculpture. In this
mixed media class you will have the opportunity to
explore working with materials such as watercolor,
ink, acrylic, pastels, fabric, tissue paper and much
more. Find out how to combine materials for surprising
and wonderful results in your artwork. We will work
on canvas as well as 3-D objects made from wood and
paper mache. Explore the amazing mixed media possibilities
while completing several finished pieces.

In this class, we will learn the
fundamentals of batik and silk painting. Each student
will design, batik and paint a few silk pieces. You
will learn various techniques, such as blending, layering,
and using salt & sugar. Students will leave this
class with all of the skills to continue to use silk
as a medium along with completed silk batik projects.

Learn how to use a sewing machine
while making several fun and creative projects. (You
can use one of our machines, or bring in your own.)
We will learn sewing machine basics like how to thread
the machine, fill a bobbin, etc. You will also learn
to put in a zipper, make buttonholes and much more.
We will make a variety of projects while we learn
sewing techniques. Our projects will include: a decorative
pillow, an apron, and a table runner. If you have
taken this class before, Wylie will introduce you
to more advanced projects this time around.

Mirror, mirror, on the wall - your
mirror will be the coolest one of all. Learn how to
create beautiful mosaic patterns and how to grout
and set your masterpiece. Choose from our collection
of glass and ceramic tile, stained glass, pebbles
and ephemera to create an unusual mosaic art piece
made from recycled materials. We provide materials,
but you may want to bring in your costume jewelry
or other fun items to add some personalization and
sparkle to this one of a kind original art piece.

great conversation piece and a fun accent for your
home. Using the chair as your canvas you will learn
about materials and decorative painting techniques
that can be used on any wooden piece of furniture.

(or purchase one for $20 from our selection).

Working with your digital camera,
whether or not it is a simple, point and shoot, or
a fancy-schmancy DLSR can be overwhelming, or exciting,
depending on how much you know about your camera itself.
Awaken your inner shutterbug by learning the basics
of how to use your digital camera to take visually
compelling pictures and begin to create a visual voice
of your own. In this class you will learn how to get
the most of your camera and will compile an online
library of beautiful imagery.

a playful and exploratory approach that is perfect

it is to achieve amazing results immediately, working
with glass we fire in a kiln. We will learn to cut
sheets of glass and explore various techniques to
create a number of flat glass projects in addition
to draping and slumping into molds to form bowls.
Come with your sketches or we will explore ideas here.
There will be discussion of design principles, kiln
and tool use.

Learn dozens of creative ways to add visual elements
to your written words. You will be guided in combining
sketching, painting and writing to create a journal
of experiences and personal expressions. Learn drawing
skills, how to add decorative borders, creative designs
and lettering to your journal, creating a unique and
very personal record. You'll be introduced to the use
of watercolor pencils, permanent ink pens, college &
printmaking techniques to create images and illustrations
even if you don't view yourself as a visual "artist."
We'll even learn to hand bind our own journals to create
a highly visual and descriptive books to treasure for
years to come.

"Her doo is hot" - create a hair-doo
inspired collage using materials such as aluminum
foil and cellophane to portray the zaniest designer
hairdoos.
Another project might be "Dream Weavers,"
- use tree branches and weaving techniques to create
three-dimensional sculptures straight from your wildest
dreams.
If you have a sense of adventure and are looking for
a community of similarly minded women, this is the
class for you. (Participants are welcome to bring
a snack or drink to share to enhance the art party
atmosphere.)

A few of our instructors are available for art coaching
sessions. If you are an adult or teen student looking
for some individualized coaching to help you move forward
with your personal art practice or budding art career,
we would like to offer support. We will customize our
coaching sessions per your request.
We can assist with topics such as:
- Developing an artist statement,
bio & cv/resume
- Organizing your studio and yourself
- Designing a plan of action
- Feedback/Critique on your art
work
- Polishing your portfolio
- Keys to approaching a restaurant
or gallery to show work
- Tips for increasing art sales
- Promoting yourself as an artist
